However, if I miss the tray icon popup duration (due to being AFK or just distracted), there's nothing that will alert me to the missed notification. I'm not sure if there's a time limit on the flashing, or if it just doesn't show up in my X environment (xmonad + lxpanel), but it doesn't currently serve this purpose either. (In contrast, the official Slack client would display a red dot in the tray icon for an unlimited amount of time, until I viewed the message that had generated the notification.) I'd prefer something that will keep alerting me indefinitely. Some possibilities:
