My internet has regular dropouts and I get signed out of ripcord and even though my account is set to auto-connect, I have to manually reconnect every time, that means every few minutes, which is very frustrating. Would be awesome if you could add a functionality to retry connecting after a configurable amount of time or so. Or even just a fixed 5 seconds interval with maybe 10 retries. would help greatly.

Ripcord already has auto-reconnect. For Discord, it attempts to reconnect 3 times, with increasing wait between each one. After the 3rd retry fails, it gives up, and requires the user to intervene to attempt reconnecting. This is to prevent your Discord account from being automatically banned. Discord does not publish how often a client should attempt to reconnect in situations where there is a service outage or some problem with Discord itself. And Ripcord has no way of knowing what is causing it to fail to connect. Therefore, it takes the conservative stance, and will give up quickly.

Ripcord's Slack implementation will retry connections more frequently and without giving up so easily. This is because there is little to no chance of Slack banning paid customers, and it is also easy to determine how often to attempt reconnecting by examining the Slack client's networking behavior.

Well, I understand this, but the matter of fact is, it has become so bad that I completely stopped using Ripcord for two days now. It is just too frustrating to have to manually reconnect every few minutes when my internet has the regular drop out.

The drop out lasts about 10 seconds. Surely at least being able to set the frequency of the reconnect attempts would not change whether one gets banned. It seems it just does all those 3 retries within the timeframe of the dropout and thus once the connection comes back, it has already failed 3 times. Being able to set a slower frequency would easily help fix this.

Right now the tool is sadly completely unusable to me due to this issue, which is sad because I have come to love it.
