I understand spamming the reconnect is not viable but would there be a way to detect internet connection or wifi state or something before trying to reconnect. Using this on a laptop that goes from wifi network to network is basically impossible right now and no other chat clients I use suffer from this issue.

Maybe before a connection attempt you could try pinging the server discord / slack servers and then only try the actual login once that succeeds?

It seems the issue right now is the reconnect attempts get wasted while the internet connection is still being established.

Multiple duplicate.

Note that this affects only Discord, not Slack. If you want your ticket to not be rejected outright, 1) do not open a duplicate ticket 2) do not mark it as higher priority when it's not a high priority issue 3) prefer to comment on an existing ticket 4) be more specific about which service you are having a problem with.

If you are having a problem with Slack automatically reconnecting (from anything other than unstable laptop wifi) then that is indeed something I should try to fix. But I'm assuming you are actually talking about Discord, and I have explained in previous tickets comments why it is not safe to implement aggressive automatic reconnecting for Discord.
