I don't think this is a dupe but apologies if it is. Discord and slack both let you alt-click a message to mark the conversation unread up to that point. Useful if you want to respond to something later. This likely doesn't depend on the "unread line marker" feature, it can just be sent along to the API and you block read-marking while the tab stays open.
