The above clip was recorded while in a discord server. Only 1 person at the time was giving me this problem, but it is happening increasingly often to the point that its now about 10% of the users I encounter. I tried using a different sound card, which did not help, and I even tried to use different versions of Ripcord, it was happening with each scenario.

Another thing to note: The users that this problem occurs with have the issue persist indefinitely after the issue starts. I have noticed that there is one user who I used to be able to hear normally today flipped to having this distorted audio.

Weird. I'll keep my eyes (ears?) open for this happening. I haven't seen/heard it, myself.

I've run into this myself and tried to track it down (though it's hard, since capturing RTP packets has proven quite difficult). One difference I notice is that RTC sessions are now being initialized with mode: "aeadaes256gcm" instead of xsalsa20poly1305 or xsalsa20poly1305_lite.

I can confirm this is happening with plenty of users on my end, on completely different systems, with completely different CPU, motherboard, and gpu configurations.

I had this issue as well with only one person. I had to always lower their volume and use calf to minimize the abrupt sharp noise spikes.
